Farmer's Market

Every Saturday morning in Marion Square, tents go up and Charleston shows up — peaches from the Ridge, tomatoes still warm from the field, someone's grandmother's preserves. The candle is that hour, distilled: mandarin, raspberry, and coconut at the top, peach and plum and violet through the middle, vanilla and sugar underneath.
